Goodbye to Dr Nicci

Dr Nicci Maxwell, a consultant paediatrician from the UK has been a huge part of the life of Potter’s Village since she first visited in 2016. She worked in the Medical Centre and neonatal unit as a doctor and has shared her expertise with the clinical officers and nurses. This summer her time at Potter’s Village has come to an end and on a sunny afternoon in May all the employees at Potter’s Village gathered to say thank you and goodbye. Preparations started early in the morning as the compound staff started putting up tents and setting out chairs and tables. In the afternoon there were many speeches from the staff, the Ugandan Board and the Diocese followed by a delicious spread of sausages, chapatis, bananas, samosas and peanuts. Nicci was presented with gifts and an amazing cake complete with stethoscope! Finally there were lots of farewells and photos.

Nicci has made an enormous contribution to the Potter’s Village Medical Centre giving her time and expertise and raising thousands of pounds from her supporters to help equip it. She will be much missed and we wish her well in the future.
