The new wheels for Potter’s Village have arrived!

We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of support for our Appeal for Wheels campaign, which reached its target over this summer.  We have been waiting for the new pick up truck to arrive at Potter’s Village so that we can share these fantastic photos with you!

Despite this being our biggest capital fundraising target since the Hostel appeal.  We are so grateful to all those who have donated, fundraised and support this appeal and it is going to make a huge impact on the staff and the work of Potter’s Village.

This vehicle is essential to Potter’s Village and to the staff’s ability to run this project. These are just some of the ways the new pick up will be used;

1. Going to communities to visit and assess babies’ homes at the time of admission and towards the time of resettlement.

2. Resettling babies back to their families.

3. Taking babies when they are at times referred to hospitals other than PV Medical Centre.

4. Babies are normally transported to court at the time of acquiring care orders. The magistrate always wants to see the babies physically before he grants us the 'care order’.

5. Transporting the social workers to communities to follow up cases especially for abandoned babies and at times collecting babies from far communities.

6. Transporting the psychiatric nurse and social worker during home visits and treatment for mothers needing psychiatric support.

7. It is also used for shopping for baby products and food.

    OUR VISION

    The Potter’s Village exists to rescue babies who have no other chance of survival. Up to 20 babies can be given a home on the site. Babies will be given optimum provision to thrive with one-to-one care, within a family environment.
