My visit to Potter's Village

I recently returned from my third visit to Potter's Village - but my first time travelling there solo!

On my previous visits, I have travelled with Linda Lane whose church in UK has been linked with Potter's for many years. I first heard about Potter's when Linda came to our church to give a talk about her experience. I travelled to Kigali in Rwanda and then by bus to the border town of Musanze. The 2.5 hour bus ride cost just over £2.

I'm a big animal lover so spent a lot of time with Simba (PV guard dog), the piglets and chickens, but also with the babies and carers in the crisis centre. Idah, Sonia, Festo, Richard and the team always make me feel welcome and part of the Potter's family when I am there!

During my time there I experienced the highs and lows of life at Potter's - a child's coffin being carried into the medical centre alongside the laughter of the babies who are being cared for in the crisis centre. I also saw the new physio playground transformed from a rocky shell to an awesome place for the physio department children to play together and practise movement.

I look forward to returning to Potter's next year! Jess Wiseman Please click on this link to watch Jess's video about her time at Potter's Village
