Supporters visit PV

A group from Knock Presbyterian Church, Belfast, recently paid a visit to Potters Village during their week long visit to Kisoro. Knock have been in a Tearfund partnership with the Diocese for the last 12 years and during that time have made 10 visits to the local area, including many visits to Potters Village. Calling it a ‘little taste of heaven’ team members have repeatedly been humbled by the dedication and care shown by the staff to the children in their care. And the skill and resourcefulness of the staff in the medical centre has been repeated back many times to the congregation in Belfast! During the recent visit it was great to connect again with the many friends made at Potters. Festo has been a friend throughout all of the visits and showed much patience, particularly with Youth Teams who willingly, if not expertly, took part in painting and maintenance work under his watchful eye. Sister Jovia was also there the night a team arrived in 2014 and were asked if there were any doctors who could come and help a very sick premature baby. There were in fact two and, in God’s mercy, the little girl survived and it was wonderful to hear that she is now a thriving nine year old. More recently Idah has been generous in her time with visiting teams, always extending a warm welcome and answering many questions.

The partnership with Tearfund has now been completed but Potters Village has made a lasting impact both on those who visited as well as those who supported from Belfast. Thank you to all the staff, past and present, for your welcome to us, your example of God’s grace in serving the most vulnerable children, and challenging us to live out our faith to help others.
