Therapy Playroom
We thank God so much for our new Therapy Playroom! We prayed and HE provided the funding and expertise to build such a lovely space. At first looks you may think it is a playground but for our children with disabilities it is full of opportunities for them to develop skills and learn as well as having lots of fun!
For some playing on the swings, roundabout or seesaw will give them an experience of movement in different planes that they have never experienced before. It will help strengthen their head and trunk control and improve their balance. The little trampoline will help strengthen legs and build up muscle tone in out very floppy children. The slide teaches climbing steps using alternate feet and counting with the numbers written on the steps. The sand and water play helps with hand function and coordination as well as standing and freeing hands for play. The sensory wall helps fine use of fingers and the parallel bars encourage walking.
Inside the playroom it is painted in bright colours with the alphabet and a smiling animal for each letter and a big smiling sun on the ceiling. On the outside are pictures that give a clear message of including children with disabilities. We use this lovely space each day for our children and are so thankful to all who made it possible.
